Coca-Cola Clocks: Collectible Time Travel

by Daniel Wright

Throughout the civilized world, Coca-Cola advertising is incredibly well known and instantly identified. The company has for a very long time recognized that collectibles are a fine way to advertise among fans and those not yet devoted to their brand of soda. Items can be found to appeal to nearly any individual of any age and taste.

Some collect Coca-Cola clocks, signs, pins, sweatshirts and thousands of other memorabilia and objects both for their practical uses and for their logo. Their Christmas Santa appears on mugs, clothing and dozens of other objects and brings in sales year after year. Creation of this Santa in 1931 is believed to have popularized what we associate with how Santa looks.

Coca-Cola clocks were originally made to place in stores selling the sodas and many have a "Sold Here" text to directly advertise the brand. These were large and were often given to merchants as an incentive to display them. They range from simple clocks with logo and decorations to elaborate neon clocks. Alarm clocks are very popular for home use, but the neon clocks are seen as art and decor as well as merely practical timekeepers.

In addition to the vintage and older Coca-Cola clocks, in more modern times all sorts of watches and clocks have been made and continue to be very popular items. They make perfect gifts for Coke aficionados of course, but many who don't have collections still have a fondness for the brand and enjoy even a single item. Clocks, after all, are imminently practical.

These Coca-Cola clocks have even been replicated as pins that are appealing to collectors of pins as well as collectors of clocks and advertising memorabilia. They make excellent gifts for collectors and can even be used to decorate the wrapping of a larger gift as a hint as to what is inside.

Coca-Cola clocks may be either modern replicas or authentic vintage models. Either can be very valuable. New clocks containing sophisticated electronic chronometers and replicas of the old clocks may be just as expensive as the real vintage ones. They may even cost more at a sale or auction. The making of vintage replicas is a thriving business which sometimes provides an affordable alternative to the real thing.

Soda-Pop-Collectibles.com features vintage Coca-Cola clocks as well as many from Pepsi, Mountain Dew, 7UP, Hires Root Beer, and other soft drink makers. View our huge selection of vintage Coca-Cola advertising with new collectibles added every day.
